Shakira's Historic Mexico Farewell: 13 Record-Breaking Dates Conclude!

Shakira concluded a historic run of 13 concerts at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City on Friday night, February 27, establishing herself as the artist with the most performances in a single tour at the iconic venue. This monumental achievement saw her sell 800,000 tickets across the series of shows, a feat promoter Ocesa described as "unprecedented." Addressing the 65,000 attendees at the capital's stadium, the superstar expressed deep gratitude, stating, "Thirteen GNP Stadium shows are more than a gift, it’s a miracle, a reward from life." She also acknowledged her personal journey, noting that "no one is spared from life’s falls."
For her final show, Shakira brought fellow Colombian artist Beéle as a special guest, with whom she performed a new version of her hit "Hips Don’t Lie," recorded alongside Ed Sheeran. Beéle joined a notable list of guest artists throughout the concert series, which also included Grupo Frontera, Danna Paola, and Belinda. Additionally, the symbolic and empowering "Walk with the She-Wolf" segment, which opened each show, featured the members of Santos Bravos, HYBE’s first Latin boy band, for this grand finale. Much to the audience's delight, Shakira also performed "¿Dónde Estás Corazón?" live for the first time since 2019.
The conclusion of this historic run in Mexico City, which Shakira declared the epicenter of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, reaffirmed her esteemed position as a global star. Her connection with her Mexican fans was evident as she proclaimed, "Definitely, there’s no better reunion than that of a little she-wolf with her Mexican pack, awooo! Mexico, tonight, forever and always, we are one."
This remarkable tour has already set a Guinness World Record as the highest-grossing tour of all time by a Hispanic artist, generating an astonishing $421.6 million and selling 3.3 million tickets across 86 shows, as reported to Billboard Boxscore. This international recognition is further compounded by her recent nomination to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, announced the same week.
Beyond her record-breaking concerts, Shakira has also announced an upcoming musical collaboration with Beéle, a fellow Barranquilla native, on a song titled "Algo Tú," slated for release on March 4. Her stay in Mexico is set to culminate with a massive free concert in the Zócalo on Sunday, March 1. This will mark her return to the world's second-largest public square (after Tiananmen Square) after nearly two decades. Her previous performance there on May 27, 2007, drew an official crowd of 210,000, surpassing the then-record. With the current attendance record at Mexico City’s main square held by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs (300,000) and Grupo Firme (280,000), Shakira is expected to aim for a new attendance milestone.
