Sandbags available ahead of forecasted wet weather

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – With heavy rainfall forecasted for later this week, the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency is making sandbags available to the public.

Officials state volunteers are requested to fill the sandbags on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. The sandbags will be at the Daviess County Operations Center at 2620 Kentucky Highway 81 in Owensboro.

Officials say any youth or adult, 15 or older, may assist with filling. Officials are encouraging people to bring a shovel and gloves.

Officials also say sandbags will be available for pickup at the aforementioned times or from 5 to 7:30 p.m. A limit of 100 sandbags will be available for each address.

Any business that is interested should also bring staff to help fill and load. Proof of Daviess County residency is required with a bill or statement matching the driver’s license.
