Music promoter Sam Larry has stirred online reactions after a video surfaced showing him greeting Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with folded hands during the local government elections held on Saturday.

The video, which has now gone viral, shows the showbiz promoter approaching the governor, bowing slightly with his hands clasped in a show of respect before exchanging pleasantries with him.

The clip has sparked backlash from social media users, many of whom have not forgotten Sam Larry’s alleged involvement in the events leading to the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

One Instagram user wrote: “No matter how you try, the truth must be revealed.”

Another added: “You dey greet governor but still never clear your name.”

Sam Larry came under public fire after videos emerged in 2023 showing him harassing Mohbad on multiple occasions.

One video captured the promoter disrupting the set of a music video shoot featuring Zlatan and Mohbad. Following public outrage, Sam Larry was arrested by the Lagos police in September 2023.

The police exhumed Mohbad’s body and conducted an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

In an interview with online personality VeryDarkMan, Sam Larry denied harming the late singer, claiming their disagreement stemmed from a financial dispute. “He owed me for a show he didn’t attend. I never harmed him,” he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had in September 2023 ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, directing the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police to collaborate on the case.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
