Sam Fender & Olivia Dean Shatter Records, Reign Supreme on U.K. Charts for 11 Weeks!

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have made history on the U.K. Official Singles Chart, with their collaborative track “Rein Me In” securing its 11th non-consecutive week at the coveted No. 1 position as of May 16. This remarkable achievement propels the song past a long-standing record, as it now holds the title for the longest-running No. 1 by a male/female duo. The previous record was held by Rihanna and Jay-Z’s iconic hit “Umbrella,” which spent 10 weeks at the summit back in 2007, showcasing the significant impact and enduring popularity of Fender and Dean’s collaboration.
“Rein Me In” originally featured on Sam Fender’s 2025 album, *People Watching*. The song saw a significant evolution when it was remixed in June of last year, incorporating a fresh verse from Olivia Dean, which undoubtedly contributed to its subsequent chart dominance. The track first ascended to the No. 1 spot in February 2026 and has since garnered critical acclaim, including the prestigious Song of the Year award at the recent BRIT Awards. In a special moment for fans, Olivia Dean invited Sam Fender to join her for surprise live performances of the song at two of her sold-out shows at London’s massive 20,000-capacity O2 Arena on May 1. This marked a rare joint appearance, as the duo had only previously performed the song together once, at Fender’s London Stadium show in June of the previous year.
Elsewhere on the chart, Tame Impala, led by Kevin Parker, maintained a strong presence, with their track “Dracula” holding steady at No. 2. This continued success comes after the U.K. leg of their global tour, which notably included a surprise guest appearance by Dua Lipa at their London O2 Arena show on May 7. The enduring legacy of Michael Jackson also saw a significant resurgence, attributed to what is described as "Michael’s continued box office success." Several of his classic hits re-entered or climbed the charts, with “Billie Jean” rising to an impressive No. 3, while “Beat It” secured the No. 5 spot, and “Human Nature” landed at No. 6. Olivia Rodrigo’s recent chart-topper, “Drop Dead,” experienced a slight dip, moving down one position to No. 4 this week.
Further down the chart, The Chemical Brothers’ track “Go” achieved a brand-new peak, remarkably a decade after its initial release in 2015. The Q-Tip-starring song has enjoyed a notable resurgence in popularity, largely credited to its recent sync in the Taron Egerton-led action film *Apex*. Meanwhile, Charli xcx made a highly anticipated return to the music scene with her new single, the divisive “Rock Music,” which debuted at No. 26, indicating a promising start for the artist’s latest offering.
