Saini’s 2047 vision for Haryana: $1tn economy, 50L new jobs

Chandigarh: Participating in a meeting of the NITI Aayog's governing council, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced the state's goal to achieve a US $1 trillion economy and create 50 lakh new jobs by 2047.PM Narendra Modi chaired the meeting in New Delhi.During the meeting, Saini presented Haryana's Vision Document-2047, highlighting the state's active contribution to achieving the national goal of ‘Developed India @2047'.Saini also said the state will create new opportunities for youth by harnessing AI.The CM said the PM's vision, policies, and decisions consistently served the national interest. The vision of a developed India encompasses self-reliance, prosperity, empowerment, capability, inclusiveness, and technological advancement.He urged the PM that once it is finalised, the Haryana Vision-2047 be integrated into the national-level Developed India Dashboard. Saini said special emphasis has been placed on six key areas to contribute towards building a developed India. These priorities have also been incorporated into the state budget for the present financial year.To prepare Haryana for future, he said, a new entity called the department of future has been established.

This department will explore development opportunities through cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and robotics. Acting as a nodal agency, the department of future will spearhead long-term strategic initiatives, technological foresight, and integrated policymaking to realise a trillion-dollar economy and promote inclusive development, aligned with Haryana's Vision 2047, he said.Saini said Haryana is establishing ‘Haryana AI Mission' to advance AI initiatives. The state govt has encouraged private investors to create a Fund of Funds worth Rs 2,000 crore, aimed at positioning Haryana as a major hub for innovation and entrepreneurship through strategic investments in startups.The CM added technical barriers are a significant challenge to rapid economic development, and the shelf life of skills was decreasing.

Therefore, there is an urgent need to modernise the skill ecosystem. To address this, he proposed the development of an integrated skill hub to better equip the workforce for future demands.‘Achiever state'Sharing updates on Haryana's progress, the Chief Minister said that under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, Haryana consistently retained the ‘achiever' category among landlocked states in the LEADS survey for three consecutive years—2022, 2023, and 2024.

He highlighted that all projects costing over Rs 100 crore are now required to align with the National Master Plan of PM Gati Shakti.Action against criminalisationHaryana CM Nayab Singh Saini added that efforts were underway to eliminate criminalisation in 230 laws of 37 departments, and the ‘Jan Vishwas Bill' is being drafted. He assured that Haryana will align its efforts with the central govt's vision of building a developed India by 2047 and will strive to contribute maximally to this national goal.
