Victims of Finland, Canada Scholarship Scam Plead for Intervention

Victims of a Finland and Canada scholarship scam in Eldoret City, Kenya, held a procession to raise awareness and solicit funds to enable affected students to pursue their studies overseas. Noah Kemboi and Hosea Kemei, leading the effort, announced a fundraiser to help raise the necessary money. They emphasized that the students have been waiting since 2022 to travel abroad for their education.

Kemboi appealed to President William Ruto for intervention, requesting KSh 210 million to cover the outstanding bills. He expressed confidence in the President's goodwill and hopes for a resolution to their plight. The organizers are seeking financial support from the public, welcoming contributions of any amount to help the students achieve their educational goals in Finland and Canada.

A total of 210 students were unable to travel due to the scam and are now seeking assistance from well-wishers to fulfill their educational aspirations. Some students who graduated from the program expressed their sadness at not being part of the opportunity. The incident has caused trauma, depression, and stress for many victims and their families.

Hosea Kemei highlighted that the issue was discussed during the Finnish president's recent visit to Kenya and seeks a resolution for the students to enroll in institutions in Finland and Canada. Velory, one of the affected students, appealed to President Ruto, Deputy President Kindiki, and Raila Odinga for their intervention, emphasizing the detrimental impact on their lives if the matter remains unresolved. She noted that President Ruto had previously promised assistance, which has not yet materialized, and warned that their futures are at risk.
