Finland and Canada scholarship scam victims have held a procession in Eldoret City before conducting a fundraiser next week to enable the affected students to fly overseas for their studies.

Led by Noah Kemboi and Hosea Kemei, they said the fund drive will help them raise the money to enable them to further their studies.

“We have come here to officially launch the playbill and do a procession in Eldoret City so that we can get funds to enable our children to proceed with their studies abroad," they said.

Kemboi said their children have been at home for a long time since they were to travel abroad for studies in the year 2022, before troubles struck them.

They have now asked for President William Ruto’s intervention in footing the bill for them to further their studies.

“We have no other person to look up to other than our President and father of our nation, William Ruto, to solve this matter once and for all by giving us the KSh 210 million to offset the bill,” said Kemboi.

He said they know the president means well for them and hopes the message gets to him while asking for their rescue by sorting all their bills.

“We are seeking your support financially for our children and relatives to go for further studies in Finland/Canada. You KSh 100 and any other amount will be highly appreciated,” added Kem

A total of 210 students failed to travel for studies and are seeking assistance from all well-wishers so that they can quench the education thirst which they have been yearning for long.

Recently, there was a section of students who graduated from the same program and they were emotional that they could have been part of the team.

He added that most of the victims have undergone a lot of trauma, depression and stress over the incidents of being lost through scandal. Many families were broken.

They urged every Kenyan well-wisher to intervene for the success of the fundraising.

Hosea Kemei wants the issue solved and their children enrol in institutions in Finland and Canada, highlighting that the issue came to the table during the Finnish president’s visit recently in Kenya.

Velory, a prospective student, is among the victims.

She said they had been affected by the saga and that some of them were already in depression.

“We are requesting President Ruto, Deputy President Kindiki and Raila Odinga to intervene on this matter, for our studies are at stake,” said Velory.

She said President Ruto had promised to salvage them in the issues, but it has not materialised, citing if the matter is not handled, their lives will be ruined.
