Saga Expands! 'A Quiet Place' Sequel Ventures to Terrifying New Location!

The acclaimed 'A Quiet Place' franchise, initiated by star John Krasinski who transitioned behind the camera, made a significant mark on the horror genre eight years ago. The post-apocalyptic film, centered on a family's silent struggle against blind, sound-sensitive alien creatures, garnered critical acclaim for its emotional depth and parental themes, grossing over $340 million worldwide against a modest $17 million budget. Krasinski continued the narrative with 'A Quiet Place: Part II' just two years later, and Michael Sarnoski expanded the lore with the prequel, 'A Quiet Place: Day One', released in 2024. While 'A Quiet Place: Part III' is slated for next year to conclude Krasinski's planned trilogy, the universe is expanding further into new territories. IDW Dark, a horror imprint of IDW Publishing, is launching a new five-issue comic series titled 'A Quiet Place: Rising Tides', set to debut in November. This series will explore an unventured locale: the Florida Keys. The comic follows Grace and her estranged father, who reunited on a dilapidated houseboat just before the alien invasion. Forced into a desperate fight for survival, their complex relationship is tested as they face the sound-sensitive predators. While the open waters initially offer safety, dwindling supplies, the father's declining health, the creatures' rapid adaptation, and an impending hurricane severely jeopardize their chances.

The premise of 'A Quiet Place: Rising Tides' aligns with the franchise's core themes of family, though it presents a different dynamic than the Abbott family. Acclaimed writer and artist duo Declan Shalvey and Luke Sparrow are at the helm of the comic. Shalvey, who also illustrated a cover capturing a Floridian aesthetic with an alien atop a crashed houseboat surrounded by alligators, shared with Entertainment Weekly his intention to integrate the unique geography and weather of Florida into the survivors' battle strategies. This new comic is part of IDW Dark's broader initiative to adapt Paramount franchises, joining titles such as 'Any Given Smile' based on Parker Finn's 'Smile' series.

'A Quiet Place: Part III' is set to be the final chapter in the trilogy focusing on the Abbott family. Filming commenced in May, with the story continuing after the events of 'Part II', where Regan's cochlear implant was successfully used to disrupt the aliens via a high-frequency radio broadcast. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe are confirmed to reprise their roles, alongside Cillian Murphy, who returns as Emmett, the Abbotts' family friend.
