Safiyya Vorajee and Ashley Cain's Split Revelation
Safiyya Vorajee has revealed that her separation from Ashley Cain was a direct consequence of his increased reliance on alcohol following the tragic passing of their baby daughter, Azaylia, in April 2021. The former couple, Safiyya, 36, and Ashley, 33, experienced an unimaginable loss when Azaylia succumbed to acute myeloid leukemia at just eight months old, a condition that led to the development of tumours on her lungs, stomach, and kidneys.
Speaking on Paul C Brunson's "We Need To Talk" podcast, Safiyya explained that while both struggled immensely with their grief, Ashley began to "drink quite a lot." She had initially hoped they could navigate this painful period together, stating, "I was like lets ride through this together and he had his own protective armour around him and the feelings and pain he was in, he couldn’t navigate it." Safiyya elaborated that she "kind of waited for him but he ended up drinking quite a lot and going down that road." As someone who does not frequently drink, she felt she needed him, but acknowledged that "he needed to be by himself. There is no right and wrong with grief."
Interestingly, Safiyya also disclosed a prior arrangement at the beginning of their relationship, where she gave Ashley a "90-day test" regarding his drinking habits. She had asked him to demonstrate the man she desired by slowing down his partying and focusing on work and home. She affirmed that he had successfully passed this initial test with "flying colours."
In early 2024, Ashley Cain surprised his followers by announcing he had become a father once more, welcoming a baby boy named Aliyas Diamond with an old friend. The new parents clarified they were not in a romantic relationship but were committed to co-parenting their son. Ashley shared the news on social media, expressing his excitement that his late daughter would soon have another little brother to watch over, and his baby boy would also become a big brother.
Following Aliyas's birth in January, Ashley embarked on a monumental fundraising challenge in Azaylia’s memory. He became the first person to complete a back-to-back run, cycle, and kayak journey spanning nearly 3,000 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End. This arduous three-month endeavor successfully raised £200,000 for The Azaylia Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting families whose children are battling cancer.
