Actress Biola Adebayo Announces End of Her Marriage

Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has publicly announced her separation from her husband, Oluseyi Akinrinde. The revelation came in a heartfelt Instagram post on a Tuesday, which coincided with Akinrinde's birthday. In her message, Adebayo referred to him as her 'Ex husband and my baby daddy,' confirming that their marriage had ended.
Adebayo shared that she and Akinrinde had been separated since April of the previous year, specifically April 2024, making it a period of 14 months leading up to her announcement. Despite the separation, she emphasized their mutual decision to 'maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son who means everything to us.' The couple had welcomed their son via surrogacy in April 2023, following public struggles with fertility that included failed IVF treatments and initial surrogacy attempts. They had married on April 7, 2021, just six months after they first met.
In her emotional post, Adebayo expressed her sorrow over the end of the marriage, stating, 'To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry, I wished it worked but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story.' She candidly spoke about her personal struggles, revealing, 'While I go about making other people happy in the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months but I gain strength from Christ who loves me eternally and gave himself for me.' She urged her followers to practice kindness, reminding them that 'you have no idea what others are going through until they say it.' Before her marriage to Oluseyi Akinrinde, Biola was previously married to a UK-based Yoruba man named Ola, with whom she had a private wedding in London in 2013; that marriage also ended for undisclosed reasons.
The news of the separation shocked many of Adebayo's followers and fellow celebrities. Figures such as Regina Chukwu, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Esther Ijewere, Búkola Olatunju, Aisha Lawal, Allwell Ademola, and Osoba Temitope were among those who offered words of support and encouragement in the comments section of her post. Fans expressed their sadness, with some initially mistaking the announcement for a prank before offering their condolences.
Biola Adebayo is also known for her philanthropic efforts, notably through her talk show, 'Talk To B.' Through this platform, she has supported colleagues, such as bringing Dupe Jaiyesimi’s story of childlessness to light and helping raise funds for her. Another actress, Jumoke George, also received significant support from fans after appearing on Biola's show. Despite her personal hardships, Adebayo continues to draw strength from her faith and has requested prayers for her family during this challenging time.
