Run Club Abuja Empowers Education with State-of-the-Art Digital Library!
Run Club Abuja (RCA) has officially inaugurated a cutting-edge digital library for the students of Junior Secondary School (JSS) Gwagwa, Abuja. This significant initiative aims to provide vital educational resources and online learning materials to students across JSS1 to JSS3, complete with a year-long data subscription to ensure continuous access. This development marks a substantial leap forward in educational provision for the community.
During the formal handover ceremony, Buchi Onyebule, President of Run Club Abuja, detailed the impressive setup of the new e-library. It is equipped with 12 modern computers and integrates access to three robust educational platforms: Google Education Fundamentals, Snapplify Engage, and U-Lesson, which is a local resource specifically designed to meet the curriculum needs of junior secondary students. Beyond the technological provisions, the library's physical environment has been meticulously crafted with high-quality seating and tables, creating an optimal and conducive atmosphere for focused learning.
Mrs. Peju Lawanson, who chaired the organising committee for the Run Club Abuja 2025 Charity Half Marathon, conveyed profound gratitude to all the sponsors, participants, and dedicated volunteers whose collective efforts were instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition. She expressed strong belief that the introduction of this digital library will dramatically enrich the academic journeys of the students, opening doors to an expansive array of knowledge and diverse learning opportunities. Lawanson further articulated the club’s aspiration: “We hope that this initiative inspires a love for learning, nurtures creativity, and equips students with the skills necessary to thrive in a digital age.”
The Principal of Junior Secondary School Gwagwa, Mrs. Nneka Okonkwo, warmly received the new facility, underscoring the fact that the school had previously been without any form of conventional library. She hailed the digital library as a pivotal advancement that would significantly elevate academic standards and broaden opportunities for her students, empowering them to effectively compete with their counterparts in more privileged areas across Abuja.
The students themselves echoed this enthusiasm. Emmanuel Obioma and Goodness Akishere, both in JSS3, shared their excitement, affirming that the new library would be an invaluable asset for their research assignments and studies. Tony Edeh, Group Managing Director of Norrenberger Group and a crucial project partner, represented by Head of Brand, Marketing and Communications Ibinabor Otonjo, reinforced the library’s potential. He highlighted that it offers students a unique avenue to explore academic realms beyond the traditional classroom setting, allowing them to learn at their individual pace and cultivate greater aspirations for their futures.
Crucially, the entire project was made possible by the dedicated fundraising efforts of Run Club Abuja, which successfully amassed ₦10 million through its Charity Half Marathon held in July 2025. This financial backing underscores the community-driven spirit behind the initiative and its lasting impact on educational access.
