Romance Is In The Rain With Burberry's Newest Campaign
The British author Vivian Greene once wrote, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain”, and as simple as this sentiment may be, it’s about embracing the unpredictability of the weather and more profoundly, about taking life as it comes.

In so many ways, this sentiment seems strikingly reflective of the British spirit. After all, the English weather is notorious for turning grey at any moment, yet in spite of the pattering rain, the British have always made the most out of it. They’ll gather by the window for a cup of tea and a long chat, pay no mind to the showers and continue on their way, or cosy up in bed with a good rom-com to pass the time. They have places to go, people to see, and memories to make. What’s a little rain?
This spirit of pressing ahead is celebrated in Burberry’s newest campaign, with the rain playing a central role in the storytelling across seven different short videos.
Titled It’s Always Burberry Weather: London In Love, the second installment of a campaign first launched in October 2024 inspired by a slogan found in Burberry’s archive, this edition nods to the much-loved genre of British romantic comedy movies from the 1990s and the 2000s. This was the era that gave us hits like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love, Actually, and About a Boy to name a few, and they telegraph a certain sense of wry wit, irony and warmth that have endeared generations of audiences along the way.

With the help of award-winning actors including Kate Winslet, Richard E. Grant and Son Suk-ku, as well as supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Liu Wen, seven adorable cinematic shorts tell different stories of first love, passionate rendezvous, longing and so on. Ultimately, whether you’re snogging in the park or stopping for a quick bite in a greasy spoon cafe, you’re better off with a Burberry coat, scarf or umbrella just in case the weather takes an unpredictable turn.

For Winslet, her vignette nods to her iconic role as Iris in The Holiday, where she engages in a house swap and finds love along the way. Exiting her townhouse on Camden’s colourful Kelly Street, and wearing a timeless camel-coloured gabardine coat, she’s chatting with a loved one on the phone about house swapping and telling them how she’d miss kissing them in the rain. As she says the magic words, the rain starts to pour.
Meanwhile, in a typical London park, Aimee Lou Wood and Micheal Ward play two Cupid-struck lovebirds on a date, who are about to share a kiss before the weather rains on their parade. Looking on is Grant, who later picks up models Liu Wen and Campbell—both togged in the brand’s spring/summer 2025 collection—in a London cab, and who find themselves in a bit of a squeeze with an unexpected passenger.

Then, there’s the dashing Son Suk-ku, who chats with a loved one while dining on a classic English fry-up, and is shielded by his Burberry coat and umbrella as he steps out into the wet weather.
On and on, each vignette, shot by cinematographer Benoît Delhomme, tells a story that is inspired by rom-coms and anchored by the rainy weather—Chen Kun and David Gandy at St. Paul’s Cathedral in intercrossing stories of love, or Jodie Turner-Smith and Nicholas Hoult (who is known for his role in About a Boy) sharing a torrential embrace.

There’s something magical about watching these characters live out their lives, and doing all of that while showing you the timelessness and reliability of Burberry’s icons. And as the sound of British pop-rock band Country Durham’s ‘When Love Breaks Down’ starts crooning in the background, you know that with Burberry, these characters will be right as rain at the end of the day.
