Rock Legends KISS Soar to New Heights on Album Charts with 'Destroys Anaheim ’76'!

KISS has achieved a significant milestone with their archival live project, "KISS Destroys Anaheim ’76," which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart for the week of September 5. This marks the band's highest position on this specific chart in over a decade, surpassing their performance since their final studio album, "Monster," which premiered and peaked at No. 3 in October 2012.

The album "KISS Destroys Anaheim ’76" serves as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of KISS’s historic concert on August 20, 1976. During this performance at the Anaheim Stadium, the band played to its largest audience at that time, with approximately 42,000 attendees. This recording is a part of KISS’s renowned "The Spirit of ’76 Tour," also recognized as the "Destroyer Tour."

For its first official public release, the recording has been newly mixed and is available across a variety of physical and digital formats. The album features iconic KISS favorites, including "Detroit Rock City," "Strutter," "Shout It Out Loud," and "Rock and Roll All Nite."

In addition to its strong performance on the Top Album Sales chart, "KISS Destroys Anaheim ’76" also made impressive debuts on several other Billboard charts. It secured the No. 8 spot on Indie Store Album Sales, No. 16 on Vinyl Albums, No. 12 on Top Hard Rock Albums, No. 48 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums, and No. 173 on the overall Billboard 200. This entry on the Billboard 200 is particularly notable, as it marks KISS’s 37th appearance on that comprehensive chart.

Elsewhere on the Top Album Sales chart dated September 5, other artists also saw success. ENHYPEN clinched its fifth No. 1 position with the chart-topping arrival of "THE SIN : BLISS." Furthermore, Weezer and Twenty One Pilots both saw their latest projects debut within the top 10, securing positions at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart specifically ranks the week’s best-selling albums based solely on pure album sales, which includes both physical and digital download purchases. The history of this chart dates back to May 25, 1991, the inaugural week Billboard began compiling charts using electronically monitored piece count information provided by SoundScan, now known as Luminate. It is important to note that pure album sales were the exclusive metric used for the Billboard 200 albums chart until the list dated December 6, 2014, after which that chart transitioned to a blended methodology incorporating track equivalent album (TEA) units and streaming equivalent album (SEA) units.
