This significant appearance comes just days after the two-time Grammy winner was officially announced as the newest signee to Roc Nation, the esteemed entertainment company founded by Jay-Z.
The highly anticipated signing with Roc Nation was unveiled on July 1 with a prominent digital billboard in New York's Times Square, signaling a major career move for Tyla. This transition follows her departure from Epic Records, the label she initially signed with in 2021. While neither Tyla nor Roc Nation have officially confirmed the specifics of the new agreement, multiple reports suggest it is a multi-million-dollar, global deal, highlighting the substantial investment and worldwide reach expected for the artist.
Tyla, who achieved global chart success with her hit single "Water," will be making her second appearance at Afro Nation Portugal. This year, she takes center stage alongside renowned Nigerian stars Wizkid and Asake, American rapper Gunna, and singer Mariah The Scientist. The festival itself, known for drawing fans from over 100 countries, promises a vibrant showcase of African musical talent and culture.
The strong South African contingent at Afro Nation Portugal extends beyond Tyla, with popular Amapiano artists Kelvin Momo and Zee Nxumalo also slated to perform. Adding to the South African presence in Portugal, actor Hungani Ndlovu, who has successfully revived his DJ career under the moniker DJ Grizi, has secured two performances in the Algarve region. Ndlovu expressed his excitement on social media, attributing the opportunity to divine intervention.
DJ Grizi's return to the decks follows a six-year hiatus from DJing. Through his BREEZE Sessions YouTube series, Ndlovu has been showcasing his diverse musical taste, which spans house, amapiano, afrobeats, 3-Step, and gqom. He is also committed to providing a platform for emerging artists, further contributing to the vibrant music scene. Meanwhile, Tyla's fans can look forward to new music, as her second album is reportedly due for release later this month.
