Rising artiste, Derriq, makes waves in Nigeria's live event scene

Published 23 hours ago2 minute read

Nigerian singer-songwriter Derriq is steadily gaining traction among live event organisers and party promoters, as demand for his performances increases across cities.

With a catalogue that includes “Position,” “Vibration,” and his most recent release, “Confidence,” Derriq’s music—marked by Afro-soul influences and rhythmic appeal—is beginning to draw attention beyond streaming platforms. Event organisers in cities such as Benin and Abuja have tapped the Edo-born artist for performances at gatherings including Rave Party Benin, Party Next Door Concert, and the birthday celebration of online personality Mazitundeednut.

Derriq’s presence on these lineups reflects a growing interest in fresh talent that can deliver both energy and depth during live shows. DJs and promoters are reportedly drawn to his ability to connect with crowds through live vocals and distinctive lyrical phrasing.

Speaking on his growing visibility, Derriq noted that his focus remains on building a consistent sound that resonates with both casual listeners and committed fans. “People want music that moves them, not just sonically but emotionally too,” he said. “That’s what I try to bring.”

With a new single, “Omo n’ Ogie,” slated for release, Derriq’s engagement with the event circuit appears poised to deepen, as he continues to refine his performance style and build relationships within the nightlife and live music ecosystem.
