Wu-Tang Clan's legendary artist RZA recently shared his sentiments regarding global superstars Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's decision to name their first child, born in 2022, after him. The couple, who also welcomed son Riot Rose and daughter Rocki, chose a name that deeply honored the hip-hop pioneer, according to his recent interview with Capital Xtra radio host DJ Semtex.

"It's a great honor, right," RZA expressed during their Friday, March 13, conversation. He lauded Rihanna and A$AP Rocky for their significant contributions to music, fashion, and broader culture. For RZA, the naming choice was a profound recognition: "To know that there’s some inspiration from the Wu that entered their hearts and have them name their child after the Abbot, that’s a blessing, bro." He extended his well wishes to his young namesake, emphasizing the weight behind the name: "I always say that the RZA is not just a name, it’s also a title. I’m rooting for him.”

This personal tribute is not the only notable recognition RZA has received recently. In February, his iconic group, Wu-Tang Clan, achieved a significant milestone by securing their first-ever nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This nomination comes nearly a decade after the group first became eligible, fulfilling a long-held hope for the artist.

RZA has been a vocal advocate for Wu-Tang Clan's induction into the prestigious institution for years. In a 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, he stated, "I think we should [get in], and I do care. It may take some time to get in there. I think it’s good for us and I think it’s good for rock n’ roll, because hip-hop is a form of music that grabs from every genre, but definitely grabs from rock n’ roll."
