Rigathi Gachagua's Fiery Homecoming: State Blamed for Chaos, Motorcade Ambushed After JKIA Return

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's highly anticipated return to Kenya on August 21, 2025, following a 43-day political tour in the United States, was intended by his Democratic Congress Party (DCP) allies to be a grand display of his political influence. His arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 1 p.m. was met by a large and enthusiastic reception, including DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, and hundreds of chanting supporters. This massive turnout created significant security and traffic disruptions along the Mombasa Highway and the Expressway, forcing police intervention to manage the crowds.
