Report reveals which clubs had most arrests and banning orders for 2024/25 season
As always around this time of year, the Home Office publish football crime stats for England & Wales across last season.
Total Arrests: 1,932 arrests related to regulated football matches, an 11% decrease (-235) from 2023-2024.
89% (1,725) linked to domestic club matches, 10% (189) to European club matches, 1% (18) to international matches.
31 arrests for international club matches outside England and Wales (up from 10 in 2023-2024).
106 arrests by British Transport Police (BTP), up from 96.
331 “other” arrests (e.g., theft, Class B drug possession), down 13% from 379.
Arrests dropped to levels similar to 2014-2015 (1,963) after a post-COVID peak in 2021-2022 (2,198).
Public disorder (32%), violent disorder (22%), and Class A drug possession (19%) were most common.
Manchester United had the highest supporter arrests (121), followed by Manchester City (94) and West Ham United (77).
Arrest Rate: 4.2 arrests per 100,000 attendees, down from 4.7 (excluding Euro 2024) in 2023-2024. FA Cup matches had the highest rate (6.6 per 100,000).
Total in Force: 2,439 banning orders as of 1 June 2025, up 12% from 2,172 in 2024, the highest since 2012-2013.
New orders: 685 issued (1 Aug 2024–31 May 2025), similar to 683 in the same period of 2023-2024.
Demographics: 99.4% issued to males, 64% to ages 18–34, 3% to those 17 and under.
West Ham United had the most bans (112), followed by Manchester United (108) and Chelsea (80).
Matches with Incidents: 1,583 matches (50% of 3,090 regulated matches) reported incidents, up 18% (+242) from 2023-2024.
75% low, 18% medium, 7% high severity. Women’s matches (11) all low severity.
Non-risk supporters (426 matches), hate crimes (420, mostly racial or sexual orientation), throwing missiles (363), and pyrotechnics (319).
