Reading & Leeds Rocked By Secret Set Rumors: Fans Uncover Hidden Gems

Excitement is building for the Reading and Leeds Festivals, which are currently underway or about to kick off, featuring a star-studded line-up including Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon, Hozier, and Chappell Roan, who is set for an exclusive UK headline festival appearance. However, beyond the announced acts, a significant buzz is circulating among festival-goers regarding potential secret sets, a common and highly anticipated tradition at the twin festivals.
Foremost among the rumored surprise acts are the legendary Foo Fighters, whose fans have been sent into a frenzy by perceived gaps in the festival lineup poster and a seemingly sparse overall schedule compared to previous years. Speculation intensified after the band made a throwback post on Instagram featuring their 2019 Reading Festival performance, a move many interpreted as a direct hint. The Foo Fighters boast a rich history with the festival, having performed multiple times since 1995, including headlining in 2002, 2005, 2012, and 2019, and a notable appearance at Glastonbury in 2023. Despite the excitement, some fans remain skeptical, arguing that a band of their stature is unlikely to perform a secret set.
Other prominent rock acts also feature heavily in the secret set discussions. British four-piece band Wolf Alice is considered a strong possibility, especially with their fourth studio album, 'The Clearing', due for release on Friday, August 22. Fans believe the timing of the album's release makes a surprise appearance a logical move. Similarly, Australian electronic rock band Pendulum is being discussed, fueled by their current tour and the impending release of their newest album, 'Inertia', also slated for release on the same Friday. Reddit forums are alight with users connecting these album releases to potential secret slots.
Adding to the mystery, rumors are spreading about a specific secret set on the Aux Stage at Reading at 19:30, with many speculating it could be Chase & Status. This theory gained traction after the festival's official Instagram account posted a cryptic silhouette of two people adorned with question marks, which fans believe strongly resembles the electronic duo.
However, not all news from the festival is celebratory. American rockers House of Protection have unfortunately confirmed their withdrawal from this year's Reading & Leeds Festivals. The band cited financial constraints as the primary reason, explaining that most of their funding for the trip relied on a performance at the Heavy Music Awards, which was regrettably cancelled due to serious health issues affecting a key member of that team. While devastated to disappoint their fans, House of Protection has announced plans to return to the UK in October to tour with Architects, with future plans also including Spain.
As the festival unfolds, the anticipation for these unannounced performances remains high, with fans eagerly watching for any further clues or unexpected appearances that could make this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals truly memorable.
