Reacher Creator Teases New Prime Video Spin-Off with Iconic Tom Cruise-Era Character!

Prime Video's popular series 'Reacher', starring Alan Ritchson, is exploring avenues for expanding its universe, with a spin-off series for Frances Neagley (Maria Sten) already in development. Creator Lee Child has suggested that another familiar face, Susan Turner, could be the next ideal candidate for her own spin-off, building on the success of the existing franchise.

Speaking exclusively with Collider, Lee Child confirmed his belief that Turner, previously portrayed by Cobie Smulders in 'Jack Reacher: Never Go Back', returns in the latest Jack Reacher novel, 'Chain Reaction', in a considerably more powerful military position. Child emphasized that her expanded role presents Prime Video with a valuable opportunity, noting Amazon's tendency to maximize successful properties. As a general, Turner now commands the CSA G-99 Section, an elite military investigative organization that operates independently and reports directly to the Army's Chief of Staff. This unit, described as the next iteration of the 110th, essentially allows Turner to run the Army's own FBI—a premise that Child believes could easily sustain a television series without requiring Reacher's constant presence.

Andrew Child, who has taken the lead on writing the Reacher novels, explained that bringing back characters like Turner helps solve a significant narrative challenge: creating a convincing 'hook' for Reacher to become involved in new stories. Instead of relying on potentially incredible coincidences to place Reacher among villains, Turner's pre-existing relationship with him offers a natural, 'watertight' starting point. In 'Chain Reaction', she seeks Reacher's help after one of her investigators is murdered, drawing him into a conspiracy involving artificial intelligence and corporate espionage.

Andrew Child also highlighted the interesting dynamic that arises from Turner's promotion to general while Reacher, a former major, remains a civilian. This professional hierarchy, coupled with their shared history in the 110th Military Police Special Investigations Unit, creates a unique interplay where Reacher, despite his independent nature, may defer to Turner's rank. Lee and Andrew Child discussed these developments in support of 'Chain Reaction', set to release on October 20. Additionally, Lee Child will co-write 'Zero Margin', the first Frances Neagley novel, with Yasmin Angoe, slated for Spring 2027.

Beyond the expanding Reacher narrative, the concept of an 'action hero' and ideal partnerships is explored through the 'Collider Action Hero Quiz'. This interactive quiz challenges readers with ten questions to determine which legendary action hero—Rambo, James Bond, Indiana Jones, John McClane, or Ethan Hunt—would be their perfect partner in dangerous situations, assessing various traits from mission approach to loyalty.

The quiz outcomes describe distinct archetypes. Rambo is presented as a silent, fiercely loyal, and immensely capable force of nature, prioritizing survival and ensuring no deserving partner is left behind. James Bond embodies professional danger and disarming charm, navigating complex situations with layered strategies and unwavering style, even when the margin for error is non-existent.

Indiana Jones is depicted as a brilliant yet reckless scholar with a brawler's instinct, offering irreplaceable knowledge of history, language, and culture. Despite his occasional distractions by artifacts or aversion to snakes, his resourcefulness guarantees memorable, albeit potentially perilous, adventures. John McClane, the quintessential accidental hero, thrives on stubbornness and improvisation. Though he may complain and create chaos, he unconditionally comes through when it counts, defying the odds through sheer will.

Finally, Ethan Hunt represents the absolute pinnacle of human capability, known for meticulously planned, often impossible missions. He brings relentless precision and a profound sense of responsibility to his partners, demanding trust as he navigates complex, high-stakes operations that invariably succeed against all odds.
