Doha:The Amir Cup Basketball Championship for 2024-2025 is ongoing, with fans eagerly awaiting pivotal games on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Group A. Two thrilling games are scheduled for Monday: Qatar SC will face Al-Ahli SC at 5pm at the Indoor Hall of Al-Gharafa Sports Club, followed by a clash between Al-Gharafa and the reigning champions, Al-Arabi SC, at 7pm.
In the first game, Al-Ahli SC aim to continue their impressive form against Qatar SC, a match that holds significant implications for both teams. Al-Ahli recently secured a thrilling win over Al-Sadd (80-78) in the last round and previously triumphed over Al-Gharafa (76-72) in the opening round.
Entering this game with high spirits, Al-Ahli seek to extend their winning streak and lead the group with a flawless score of four points.
Conversely, Qatar SC, which started the tournament with two consecutive defeats against Al Sadd (98-90) and Al Arabi (117-72), are in urgent need of their first victory to keep their competitive hopes alive. The Qatari team are determined to give their utmost in this critical match, especially as they currently hold only two points. In the second game, Al Arabi aim to continue their impressive performance in the tournament, following a commanding victory over Qatar SC in the previous round (117-72), which earned them their first two points in Group A. The Al Arabi team are striving for another win to bolster their chances of advancing to the semi-finals.
Al Arabi aim to solidify their status as the frontrunner for this season's title following a robust start in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Al-Gharafa, having suffered a defeat in their opening match against Al-Ahli (76-72), are determined to recover from this challenging beginning and secure a crucial victory.
Currently positioned in fifth place with one point, Al-Gharafa have only played one match and benefited from a bye in the previous round. They face a formidable opponent in one of the tournament's strongest teams, yet they are committed to enhancing their performance and increasing their chances of qualification.
The Amir Cup Basketball Championship this season is organized into two groups: Group A features Al-Arabi, Al-Sadd, Al-Ahli, Al-Gharafa, and Qatar SC, while Group B consists of Al-Rayyan, Al-Shamal, Al-Wakrah, and Al-Khor.
Games in the group stage follow a single-round league format, with the top team from each group advancing directly to the semi-finals. The second and third place teams will enter a knockout round to determine the additional teams progressing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals will adopt a 'best of three' format, culminating in the eagerly awaited final on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Al Gharafa Club Hall.
