President Mahama swears in new Military High Command
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces and President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, on Friday, April 25, swore in the new Military High Command as Members of the Armed Forces Council.
Friday’s ceremony held at The Square, Ministry of Defence, Major General William Agyapong (Chief of Defence Staff), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing (Chief of Naval Staff) and Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong (Chief of Air Staff) formally assumed their roles.
The President congratulated the newly appointed officers, expressing confidence in their ability to lead the Ghana Armed Forces towards achieving its strategic objectives, while inspiring the rank and file.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Armed Forces Council convened to deliberate on a range of issues, including promotions and measures to enhance the efficiency and retooling of the three Services.
The Ministry of Defence, extended its appreciation to President Mahama, for his presence and continued support towards strengthening the country’s security architecture.
