Political Firestorm: Given Lubinda Declared PF President Amidst Fierce Disagreement!

During a recent press briefing held in Lusaka, Mr. Kambwili articulated significant concerns regarding Mr. Lubinda's leadership within the party. Kambwili questioned Mr. Lubinda's perceived tolerance towards fellow party members whom he alleged were undermining his authority as the Party President, urging him to take decisive action by 'cracking the whip' and dismissing any belligerent members.

Kambwili clarified his interpretation of the Party Constitution, stating that when a substantive Party President dies or resigns – as was the case with Mr. Edgar Lungu – the Acting President is meant to assume full authority. He consequently implored Mr. Lubinda to fully exercise these powers and implement disciplinary measures against any misbehaving members within the party.

In a separate but related appeal, the former Roan Member of Parliament, Mr. Kambwili, individually cautioned Kanchibiya Member of Parliament Sunday Chanda. He specifically advised Chanda against siding with the ruling Party UPND on the controversial Bill 7, which is scheduled for its second reading on Monday. Kambwili expressed his astonishment that the Kanchibiya MP had seemingly abandoned the core ideology of the PF, a party he highlighted as having accommodated Chanda during a period when he was allegedly vulnerable. Attempts to reach Mr. Chanda for comment by press time, to ascertain whether he would vote with UPND on Bill 7 in the National Assembly, were unsuccessful.

However, Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba, the PF Spokesperson based in the USA, publicly disagreed with Mr. Kambwili's stance. Mwamba asserted that Mr. Lubinda unequivocally remains in an Acting capacity. He further contended that Mr. Kambwili's arguments were 'offside,' citing that the debate on the assumption of office as party President had already been definitively settled under the provisions of the PF Constitution in 2014.
