Police arrest suspects in Kano Emir's palace attack

Published 1 week ago1 minute read

The Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the attack on the Emir’s palace at Kofar Kudu within the metropolis on Sunday.

Its Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the development yesterday, stated: “Yes, the command has arrested four suspects, and they are now in police custody as the investigation is still ongoing.”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, has set up a panel to investigate the altercation between supporters of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and the 16th Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

THIS is even as some civil society organisations, led by One KANO Agenda, have demanded explanations from the force over their “deafening silence” on the incident.

In a statement signed by Mustapha Abdullahi and Salisu Gambo of Kano Digital Media Rangers, the CSOs described the “police’s silence on the incidence as truly disturbing and tantamount to compromising the peace of the state, an action which could apparently plunge the state into chaos and uncertainty, and therefore perceived to be a deliberate plan plotted by some unpatriotic elements.”
