Peacemaker Season 2 Finale Shocker: Stars Tease Fans Will 'Desperately Want More'

Season 2 of the eight-episode HBO Max series Peacemaker delves into a compelling narrative where Christopher Smith, portrayed by John Cena, discovers an alternate world. In this new reality, his father, played by Robert Patrick, and brother, David Denman, are alive and function as superheroes, forcing Peacemaker to confront his past traumas and reassess his perception of reality. Concurrently, his closest confidante, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), and his self-proclaimed best friend, Adrian Chase (Freddie Stroma), also known as Vigilante, develop a deeper bond. Their collective resolve is tested when Adebayo finds a note from Chris explaining his decision to remain in this alternate dimension, prompting the team to devise a plan to bring him back.
Co-stars Danielle Brooks and Freddie Stromarecently shared insights into the season, including memorable scenes and character developments. Stroma recounted a particularly visceral scene from episode two, where he and John Cena's character were tasked with dismembering and cleaning up Peacemaker's doppelganger from another dimension. He described the experience as both fun and creepy, noting the realism of the prosthetic body parts and the copious amounts of blood that poured out during filming. Despite the gruesome nature, Stroma enjoyed the opportunity to improvise with 'stupid faces' and dancing while on 'clean-up duty.'

Stroma also highlighted Adrian Chase's unique excitement at the prospect of meeting another version of himself, despite the comedic and potentially chaotic implications of two Vigilantes existing. Danielle Brooks, on the other hand, recalled a moment where John Economos inadvertently AirDropping the wrong photo to Adebayo. While she didn't know the exact content at the time of filming, she used her understanding of the show's tone to imagine what it might have been.
Discussing their characters' evolving relationship, Brooks described it as an 'emotional roller coaster,' expressing satisfaction that viewers get to see more of them together. Stroma emphasized that Adebayo uniquely listens to Vigilante, a rare occurrence for his character, and praised the touching nature of Adebayo’s relationships with both Peacemaker and Vigilante.
Both actors also shared their favorite moments with Peacemaker this season. Brooks cherishes a scene in one of the final episodes where 'all the 11th Street Kids are together.' Stroma's favorite was the rooftop party scene filmed on day one of Season 2, an enjoyable reunion after a three-year gap, which allowed for playful improvisation, including 'weird drinking things and dancing' and beer being poured on him.

Brooks also discussed her approach to playing a drunk character, a challenge she had not faced previously despite her theater background. She received valuable advice from co-star Steve Agee, who in turn had learned from Nick Offerman, on the 'golden rule' of not playing drunk, but rather focusing on 'bringing it down versus bringing it up,' which she found highly effective. Both Brooks and Stroma are confident that fans will react strongly to the Season 2 finale. They predict viewers will be 'shocked' and 'joyful' from the journey but will 'desperately want more,' signaling a strong demand for a third season immediately after its conclusion.
