Paul Rudd & Jack Black Slither into Comedy Gold with First 'Anaconda' Remake Trailer!

Columbia Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for the highly anticipated remake of the 1997 film, Anaconda, set to debut on Christmas Day 2025. This new iteration features a star-studded cast including Jack Black, who recently starred in A Minecraft Movie earlier this year, alongside Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn, and Daniela Melchior.
Directed by Tom Gormican, who also co-wrote the script with Kevin Etten, the remake takes a fresh approach to the original narrative. The 1997 film, directed by Luis Llosa and starring Jennifer Lopez, followed a National Geographic documentary crew taken hostage to capture the world's largest snake. In contrast, the 2025 remake centers on a group of friends venturing into the jungle to recreate their favorite movie, only to confront unexpected and perilous dangers, presumably involving a formidable snake.
The film's release marks a busy period for its cast. Paul Rudd has had a prolific year, appearing in Friendship with Tim Robinson and Death of a Unicorn with Jenna Ortega, and is expected to return as Ben Glenroy in the upcoming season of Only Murders in the Building. Jack Black is also gearing up for 2026 releases with Jumanji 3 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Steve Zahn will be featured opposite Glen Powell in the Hulu football series Chad Powers, premiering on September 30.
Despite its cult status, the original Anaconda was not a critical or audience favorite, garnering modest scores of 41% from critics and 26% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it proved to be a box office success, grossing $136 million globally against a $45 million budget. The remake faces a different market landscape, and replicating the original's commercial success would be a significant achievement. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for more updates on the film.
