Paedophile, 83, from Netherlands arrested at airport after preying on teenage girl from Warrington
A paedophile from the Netherlands was arrested at the airport after preying on a 'vulnerable' teenage girl in Warrington through disturbing video calls.
Michael Aley, 83, of Nassau Odijkstraat, Netherlands, engaged in a number of Skype calls with the victim, a 15-year-old girl, between May and July 2021.
A court heard how during the calls, he engaged in 'sexualised communications' with the victim and exposed himself to her on a number of occasions.
Aley was issued with a postal requisition ordering him to return to the UK and appear in court for the offence, but he failed to do so.
He was extradited on May 9 and collected by officers after landing at Heathrow Airport. He appeared in court the following day where he pleaded guilty to causing a child to watch sexual activity.
He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday (July 9) where he was sentenced to ten months imprisonment plus a further ten on licence. In addition to his prison sentence, he was also ordered to sign the sexual offenders register for ten years.
He will now be extradited back to the Netherlands where he will serve his time behind bars.
Detective Sergeant Rob Massey, of Cheshire Police, said: “I welcome the sentence handed to Aley, who was left with no choice but to plead guilty to the charge as a result of evidence gathered during the course of the investigation.
“He was well aware that the victim was underage, and as an 83-year-old man he knew what he was doing was wrong, but despite this he continued with his deceitful and harmful actions.“Through the use of video calls, he specifically targeted a vulnerable young girl and took advantage of her innocence in order to fulfil his own sexual desires.“Thankfully, as a result of the evidence gathered, and the courage and bravery of the victim in this case, Aley will now be held accountable for his actions while facing a significant time behind bars.”
