Ozzy Osbourne's Secret Hospitalization Shocks Fans Ahead of Final Concert

On a recent episode of The Osbournes Podcast, Sharon, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne shared profound insights into the collective grief following the passing of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne on July 22 at 76 years old. The family delved into the secret health crisis Ozzy endured before his triumphant “Back to the Beginning” performance and revealed the unexpected condolences they received from two prominent world leaders.

The trio, speaking for the first time on the podcast since Ozzy's death, discussed the rocker's challenging final year, his impactful “living wake” curtain call show, and how their shared grief has forged an even stronger bond among them. They disclosed that after years of battling Parkinson’s disease, pneumonia, and a botched spinal surgery, Ozzy’s health took a significant turn for the worse last December following “a little fall.”

A critical incident occurred just two weeks prior to the all-star “Back to the Beginning” concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, Ozzy's hometown. Jack revealed that Ozzy was hospitalized, a detail Sharon elaborated on, expressing their terror that the public might discover the unnamed ailment that threatened to derail his final bow. She recounted the stringent security measures taken by the hospital staff, who were instructed to deny any inquiries about Ozzy and only allow family members with pre-approved photos and names access. This tight security led to a comical, yet stressful, mix-up when a man claiming to be “John Osbourne’s brother” arrived. Security, following protocol, contacted Sharon, who quickly dismissed the claim, knowing Ozzy’s siblings were unaware of his hospitalization. It was later discovered that there was another patient named John Osbourne at the hospital, and the man was his actual brother, leaving the family feeling remorseful for the misunderstanding.

Despite the shocking revelation that Ozzy essentially went from a hospital bed to the stage for his final performance, Jack emphatically stated that his father was not forced. “It’s not like we forced him, wheeled him out there… to do this gig,” Jack clarified, emphasizing Ozzy’s unwavering determination. “He was adamant… he was running the show. He said he knew exactly what he wanted. Yeah, and he was determined to do it.” The massive event featured solo and Black Sabbath sets by Ozzy, alongside an all-star lineup of metal legends including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and Anthrax.

Amidst the outpouring of well-wishes from friends, fellow musicians, and devoted fans after Ozzy’s death, the family received messages from two significant world figures. Sharon, who had previously competed on Donald Trump’s reality show “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2010, revealed that the former American president sent a voicemail. She played the message on the podcast, where Trump expressed his condolences: “Hi, Sharon, it’s Donald Trump, and I just wanted to wish you the best. Ozzy was amazing. He was an amazing guy. I met him a few times, and I want to tell you he was unique in every way and talented. So I just wanted to wish you the best, and it’s a tough thing. I know how close you were, and whatever I can do. Take care of yourself. Say hello to the family.”

Additionally, the Osbourne family received a personal letter from England’s King Charles. “We got a lovely letter from the king,” Jack shared, with Sharon adding, “Our king, he’s an amazing person. Not just because he wrote to us when Ozzy passed… if he did it for us, you know he does it for many, many, many people.” Sharon further noted that this wasn't the first time King Charles had reached out, recalling an instance when he wished Ozzy a happy birthday and contacted them when Ozzy was hospitalized after a motorbike accident. She praised the King as “a good, caring man with a good heart.” Highlighting their admiration, Sharon stated, “Ozzy, as me… we’re royalists. We respect him, we respect his family. He took the time out of his day to write us, have it hand-delivered to us, a note from the king for Ozzy’s passing with his condolences. And that says so much.”
