The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested several members of a notorious armed robbery gang believed to be responsible for a series of violent attacks in Kumasi.

The suspects were apprehended during a high-risk operation on Friday, June 27, 2025.

At a press conference held on Monday, June 30, 2025, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe announced that one suspect, who sustained gunshot wounds during the arrest, was pronounced dead at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The remaining suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court soon.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the police has revealed that the suspects used pump-action guns, pistols, and other offensive weapons to break into homes, where they held victims and their relatives hostage.

According to the police, some of the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the robberies, with one admitting to committing rape during one of the attacks.
