The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the retrieval of three vehicles allegedly stolen from GIHOC Distilleries by the company’s former Managing Director, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, who is now assisting with investigations.

According to the Police, the recovery followed a formal complaint by GIHOC and led to the arrest of Mr Jumah on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Officers picked him up in Kumasi after requesting an interview and later transported him in a police pick‑up to the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

He is now in the custody of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra, assisting detectives with their enquiries.

“A story in the media about the arrest of Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, yes, that is accurate. Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah was arrested based on a complaint or a petition that was submitted to us by GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.”

“We received the petition to the effect that some vehicles, which were the property of that company, have been stolen by the said Maxwell Kofi Jumah. He is in our custody at the CID headquarters, and he is assisting in an investigation.

“I must say that as of this afternoon, we have retrieved three vehicles; the said vehicles that were stolen by him have been retrieved, so he is really assisting us in the investigation, and we will take it up from there,” she added.

Sunday’s operation marks the latest twist in a case that first surfaced on May 15, when security personnel attempted unsuccessfully to retrieve state‑owned vehicles said to be in the former MD’s possession.
