Olivia Rodrigo's 'Drop Dead' Smashes UK Charts, Debuts at No. 1

Olivia Rodrigo has achieved her fourth U.K. No. 1 single with "Drop Dead," which immediately claimed the top spot upon its release on April 25. This latest success marks a significant milestone for Rodrigo, as "Drop Dead" dethroned "Rein Me In" by Sam Fender and Olivia Dean, a track that had commanded the U.K. charts for five consecutive weeks and eight non-consecutive weeks in total. "Drop Dead" serves as the inaugural single from Rodrigo's highly anticipated third album, titled You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, slated for release on June 12. The song received its first live performance at Coachella last weekend, where Rodrigo made a special appearance alongside Addison Rae. "Drop Dead" now joins Rodrigo's previous chart-topping singles, "drivers license" (2021), "good 4 u" (2021), and "vampire" (2023), further solidifying her presence at the pinnacle of the U.K. music scene. Her first two studio albums, SOUR and GUTS, also notably reached the No. 1 position on the Official Albums Chart.
Following its reign, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's "Rein Me In" has dropped one position to No. 2. Despite this, Olivia Dean is celebrating the commencement of her global The Art of Loving tour, which began its journey in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday, April 23, indicating continued momentum for her career.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber has witnessed a resurgence of several of his hits across the U.K. charts, a phenomenon attributed in part to his recent Coachella takeover. His 2012 track "Beauty and a Beat" has soared to No. 3, marking a new all-time peak for the song. Additionally, his 2025 release "Daises" has climbed 10 places to reach No. 5, a position it previously held upon its original release. Other Bieber tracks making an impact within the top 40 include "Baby" at No. 17 and his collaboration with Sean Kingston, "Eenie Meenie," positioned at No. 32, highlighting the enduring appeal of his discography.
Beyond these major movements, other notable singles have also secured spots within the U.K. charts. Tame Impala's "Dracula" has experienced a slight descent, moving two places to No. 4. The top 10 also features Alex Warren with "Fever Dream" at No. 5 and Sombr's "Homewrecker" at No. 7, showcasing a diverse range of artists making their mark.
On the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart, Skindred clinched the No. 1 spot with their ninth studio album, You Got This. This achievement marks their first album to ever reach the summit of the chart, triumphing over a close week-long battle. Jessie Ware's Superbloom secured the No. 2 position, while Zayn's Konnakol concluded the week at No. 4, completing the significant movements in album sales.
