'Off Campus' Stars Drop Shocking Ending Reveal for Allie and Dean!

Romance novel enthusiasts can rejoice as the highly anticipated series, "Off Campus," based on Elle Kennedy's popular book series, has premiered its first season on Prime Video, with production for Season 2 already underway. The initial season introduces viewers to Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and Hannah Wells (Ella Bright), as Garrett proposes an unconventional deal to help Hannah capture the attention of musician Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston) through a fake relationship. Hannah, supported by her best friend Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla), eagerly enters the arrangement, though events quickly unfold in unforeseen ways.
Collider recently interviewed Josh Heuston and Mika Abdalla, who play crucial roles in the Prime Video adaptation. They discussed their experiences filming the first season, delved into significant character moments, and hinted at their characters' expanded roles in the future of the "Off Campus" universe. Mika Abdalla specifically addressed the show's decision to introduce Allie's romance with Dean (Stephen Kalyn) earlier than in the books, sharing her excitement about how the series both honored and adapted Allie's character in Season 1.
Abdalla recounted her initial interactions with Stephen Kalyn, describing a period where they barely spoke before developing a strong rapport. She highlighted their similar approaches to acting and the mutual support they found in each other, especially given their tendency to be self-critical. The chemistry read for Allie and Dean, held over Zoom, presented unique challenges due to the physical nature of their scenes, yet Kalyn's performance ultimately secured his role.
Josh Heuston, whose character Justin Kohl is a musician, spoke about the experience of performing and singing, contrasting it with the hockey-centric roles of other male characters. He found the process of learning music with a dedicated team to be incredibly enriching and nurturing. Heuston described singing as a vulnerable and cathartic experience, affirming that he wouldn't trade it for time on the ice.
Addressing Justin's future in the series, Heuston explained that in Season 1, Justin is primarily focused on his music, driven by both ambition and insecurity. He cited a scene where Justin performs for Hannah, anxious for her approval, as an example of his character's dedication to his craft. While Justin does find romance in the books later on, Heuston noted that for now, after a previous relationship that didn't go well, Justin is solely concentrating on his musical aspirations.
Abdalla also revealed a significant last-minute change to the Season 1 finale: the introduction of Hunter, another character from Elle Kennedy's books. This alteration was a surprise to the cast and served as a strategic move to slow down the early progression of Dean and Allie's relationship, which begins earlier in the series than in the source material. Abdalla praised it as a
