Nuggets Stunned: Jamal Murray Suffers Ankle Injury, Awaiting Test Results

Denver Nuggets All-Star guard Jamal Murray exited Friday night's game against the New York Knicks just before halftime due to a left ankle injury, ultimately not returning to play in the 143-103 loss.
Coach David Adelman confirmed Murray was "really sore" and that the extent of his absence, whether days or weeks, would be determined after further examination the following day.
Adelman noted that Murray typically recovers quickly from ankle sprains.
The injury occurred when Murray, after taking contact from a driving OG Anunoby in the lane, stepped back onto the right foot of teammate and fellow All-Star Nikola Jokic.
Murray immediately fell to the floor in visible pain, clutching his left ankle. He was assisted off the court by teammate Jonas Valanciunas, grimacing as he hobbled to the locker room with 1:05 remaining in the first half.
During the stoppage caused by Murray's injury, Knicks coach Mike Brown successfully challenged the on-court call of an Anunoby charge.
As a result, Murray was assessed a blocking foul, and Anunoby converted both free throws, extending the Knicks' lead to 65-42 by halftime.
This season marked a significant milestone for Murray, as he earned his first All-Star selection in his nine-year NBA career.
His injury came on a night when the Nuggets' original starting lineup was finally reunited on the court for the first time since November 12, with Aaron Gordon returning from a hamstring injury and Cam Johnson back from a sprained right ankle.
Coach Adelman expressed frustration with the team's continuous injury struggles, stating, "This has just been insane. Every time we get somebody back I feel like somebody else goes out."
Despite the ongoing challenges and potential minute restrictions for returning players, Adelman emphasized the team's need to perform significantly better, particularly in their upcoming game against OKC.
