NPP suspends Agona West 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for defying party directive

Published 3 days ago1 minute read

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its 2024 parliamentary candidate for Agona West, Christopher Arthur, for breaching a directive issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, which prohibits internal campaign activities for party positions.

In a letter jointly signed by the constituency secretary, Anthony Kwame Kum, and chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, Arthur was accused of convening an electoral area meeting on Sunday, July 6, 2025. The party described the meeting as a clear violation of party regulations and an act of administrative indiscipline.

“Your action not only disregards the authority of the General Secretary but also undermines internal unity and the strategic work being done to strengthen the party ahead of the next general election,” the letter stated.
