Northern Christians Clash Over Leadership Positions, CAN President Urged To Intervene | Sahara Reporters

In a statement released on Monday, the CMF expressed deep concern over the prolonged conflict, urging all parties involved to prioritize peace and unity.
The Christian Media Forum (CMF) has called on the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, to urgently intervene in the ongoing leadership dispute over the chairmanship of CAN in the 19 northern states.
In a statement released on Monday, the CMF expressed deep concern over the prolonged conflict, urging all parties involved to prioritize peace and unity.
“We urge the warring factions to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance, as it is our firm belief that the Christian community should be a beacon of hope, love, and unity rather than a symbol of division and strife,” the statement read.
The forum lamented that the crisis had not only tarnished CAN’s image but also cast a shadow over the Christian faith as a whole.
It emphasised that the dispute, which has dragged on for an extended period, has significantly harmed the Church’s reputation.
According to the CMF, the leadership struggle involves Yakubu Pam and Joseph Hayab, both of whom claim the chairmanship of CAN in the northern region.
“As we await the intervention of Archbishop Okoh, we pray that God will grant us the wisdom, courage, and strength to work towards a peaceful resolution of the crisis,” the group added.
The CMF reiterated its commitment to fostering peace and unity within the Christian community and called for immediate action to end the leadership tussle.
