The Super Falcons of Nigeria have etched their name further into African football history, securing an unprecedented 10th Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. This monumental achievement came after a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against host nation Morocco in the final, a match widely dubbed 'Mission X' by the team.

The final, held at the Stade Olympique in Rabat, was a dramatic affair. Morocco, buoyed by their home crowd, started strong, with Ghiziane Chebbak opening the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by Sanaa Mssoudy's goal in the 24th minute, giving Morocco a 2-0 lead at halftime. Throughout the tense encounter, Moroccan fans resorted to unconventional tactics, shining laser lights onto Nigerian players, most notably targeting star forward Esther Okoronkwo, creating a challenging environment for the Falcons.

However, the Super Falcons displayed remarkable resilience and tactical prowess in the second half. Head coach Justin Madugu introduced Rinsola Babajide and Jennifer Echegini, injecting pace into the attack. The turnaround began in the 64th minute when Esther Okoronkwo confidently converted a penalty to pull one back for Nigeria. The equalizer followed in the 71st minute, with Okoronkwo once again instrumental, setting up Folashade Ijamilusi. The legendary five-time CAF Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, was brought on to help close out the game. The decisive moment arrived in the 88th minute when Okoronkwo delivered a crucial assist to Jennifer Echegini, who scored the match-winning goal, sealing Nigeria's 3-2 triumph.
