Nicolas Cage will portray NFL legend John Madden, and Christian Bale will play Al Davis in the upcoming biopic Madden. The film is directed by David O. Russell and also stars John Mulaney, Kathryn Hahn, and Sienna Miller.

Amazon MGM Studios released the first image from the movie, showcasing Cage and Bale as Madden and Davis, respectively. The film delves into Madden's life, from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders to the creation of the Madden NFL video game series and his rise as a renowned football commentator.

The released image depicts the characters in a football stadium, adorned with Super Bowl rings. John Madden, initially drafted into the NFL as a player but sidelined due to injury, transitioned to coaching the Oakland Raiders. He led the Raiders to ten consecutive winning seasons and secured the Super Bowl XI title before retiring in 1978 as the youngest coach to achieve 100 wins. By 1979, he became a color commentator on TV, solidifying his brand. Madden passed away in December 2021 at the age of 85. Al Davis, a former owner of the Raiders and a close friend of Madden, died in October 2011.

The film's cast includes John Mulaney as tech entrepreneur Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Madden's wife Virginia, and Sienna Miller as Davis's wife Carol. David O. Russell, known for directing movies such as Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter, and American Hustle, directs, produces, and wrote the script, following an earlier version by Cambron Clark.

Currently being filmed in Atlanta, the release date for Madden has not yet been announced. This news follows the studio's release of a first-look image of Cage in its live-action Spider-Noir series.
