New York Knicks have three untouchable players they cannot trade for Kevin Durant, claims Kendrick Perkins
Since moving to the team in 2023, Kevin Durant has made the playoff twice, but has been unable to do anything inspiring with them in the postseason.
This campaign, the Phoenix Suns were expected to take the step up as they brought in a championship winning coach in Mike Budenholzer, but Kevin Durant and him have not been a success.
In recent days, Durant has been a subject of a more trade speculations with experts predicting his next landing spot.
Kendrick Perkins, who is a former teammate of Kevin Durant’s, also shared his two cents on the same, but predicted it was difficult to execute a trade for the two-time champion.

Kevin Durant made his way to the Phoenix Suns after a trade that saw Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson go to the Nets as part of the deal.
Both were great three and D players, but Perkins believes it is unlikely for teams to give up guys like that anymore due to their growing importance.
To back his point, Perkins gave the example of New York Knicks and Houston Rockets, both who have two of the best three and D wing players in the league.
Speaking on the ‘Road Trippin’ podcast, he said: “There’s three people on the Knicks that are untouchable. Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby. Leave him right there. The hardest thing to go get, is OG Anunoby, a 3 and D guy.”
While Durant is still playing high level of basketball at 36, wing players who can score and defend are rare in the league.
Perkins acknowledged Kevin Durant as a great player, but he believes teams are unlikely to include these players in a deal to bring in the former MVP.
“I know KD is great, I get that, it’s the same thing with the Rockets, the Rockets better not touch Amen Thompson.
“You can’t do that. You can’t replace those reliable wings. Look at DeAndre Hunter the effect he has had with the Cleveland Cavaliers,” added Perkins.
Despite a disappointing season for the Suns, where they have languished below the top ten of the West, Kevin Durant has still managed to have a great individual season.
He is averaging 26.6 PPG and 6 RPG on 52.7 % shooting from the field.
These are great numbers for a player who is 36 and playing after a serious Achilles injury.
The Suns have the likes of Bradley Beal and Devin Booker as well, but the fit has never been right with the three scorers on the team.
They have lacked an anchor on the defensive end and also the depth needed to compete in a Western Conference that has gotten a lot stronger in recent years.
This is why the team could look to trade away Durant, who could still command a good deal from other sides.
He is heading towards the twilight years of his career, but Durant’s game is pure and is based on the ability to score.
The 36-year-old can put his head down and get to the rim, but he does not usually need that due to the finesse in his playing style.
Minnesota Timberwolves made efforts to trade for Kevin Durant earlier this season, but the likes of Rockets and San Antonio Spurs have also been mentioned, which will be great places for Durant.
Both of these are young teams and adding a player like Durant would help elevate them into championship contenders.
