New EXIM Bank board inaugurated to drive Ghana's export economy

Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated a new nine-member Governing Board for the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM), tasking them to spearhead efforts toward strengthening the country’s export-led industrial transformation agenda.

The new board is chaired by Dr. Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh and comprises key professionals drawn from various sectors.

The members include Samuel Danquah Arkhurst, Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante-Aseidu, and CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur.

Others include Stephen Abbas Miezan, Adamu Robert Akati, Millicent Samira Lardi Glawu, and the CEO of the Ghana Export-Import Bank, Sylvester Adinam Mensah.

The inauguration comes at a time when Ghana is seeking to boost foreign exchange earnings and create sustainable jobs through enhanced industrial production and value-added exports.

Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, speaking during the inauguration on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, courted the support of the board to promote the export economy of Ghana.

“I expect that you execute your mandate professionally and nicely all in the name of improving our exports,” she said.

Chairperson of the nine-member Governing Board for the Ghana Export-Import Bank Dr. Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh on behalf of the board thanked President John Mahama while expressing the commitment of board members to deliver on their task.

““We shall focus on five key areas and these are developing and enhancing the linkage between agriculture and agribusiness value chain, increasing food production to address food security, import substitution and export promotion, accelerated export of garment and apparel manufacturing, strategically align with any government agenda that falls within our statutory mandate,” he said.
