Netflix Shakes Up Oscars with Sequel Announcement for Its Biggest Hit!

Netflix confirmed the news in a press release Thursday, announcing that co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will return to helm the project.
The sequel, produced by Sony Pictures Animation, will mark the first project under the pair's exclusive multiyear writing and directing deal across animation, according to the release.
The original KPop Demon Hunters had a talented voice cast that brought the characters to life; Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo.
Other cast members included Ahn Hyo-seop,Yunjin Kim, and Daniel Dae Kim and also the film featured Ken Jeong with Lee Byung-hun.
Their performances helped make the film exciting and enjoyable for audiences around the world.
Both directors shared their excitement about the upcoming project.
Maggie Kang said she feels incredibly proud as a Korean filmmaker that audiences are eager to see more of the story and its characters, adding that there is still so much more to explore in the world they created.
Chris Appelhans shared the same enthusiasm, saying the characters feel like family and their world feels like a second home.
He said they are excited to continue the story, challenge the characters in new ways, and keep blending music, animation, and storytelling in fresh and creative ways.
The original K-Pop Demon Hunters has become a massive hit for Netflix.
In August, it was confirmed as the platform’s most-watched film of all time, beating Red Notice with more than 236 million views.
Since then, its popularity has continued to grow, with Netflix regularly highlighting it as one of its biggest original successes.
The film has also earned strong praise from critics and quickly became a major contender during awards season.
It received Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for the track “Golden.”
Many fans and critics even believed it had a strong chance of winning the Animated Feature category.
Before the Oscars, the movie had already picked up major awards, including Best Motion Picture – Animated at the Golden Globes and Best Animated Feature at the Critics’ Choice Awards, adding to its impressive achievements.
