Netflix's 'One Piece' Gets Epic Expansion: Season 3 Title and Lego Special Revealed!

Netflix's live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga franchise, “One Piece,” has continued its impressive voyage, surpassing expectations and expanding its universe with several new projects. The series, which debuted in 2023, has garnered nearly 100 million views on Netflix, with its second season, launched on March 10, 2026, achieving a perfect 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and maintaining the No. 1 spot on the Global Top 10 list, further solidifying its success over the acclaimed first season.
The highly anticipated third installment of the live-action adventure series has been officially titled “One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta” and is slated for release in 2027. This season will follow Monkey D. Luffy, portrayed by Iñaki Godoy, and the Straw Hat crew as they journey to the desert kingdom of Alabasta, the homeland of Princess Vivi (Charithra Chandran). The narrative will center on a looming rebellion threatening to tear the nation apart, secretly orchestrated by Sir Crocodile (Joe Manganiello), one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and his underground syndicate, Baroque Works. Co-showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes describe Season 3 as an "epic and emotional war story," highlighting the high stakes, unbreakable bonds, and impossible choices the Straw Hats must face to save Vivi’s kingdom. The main cast, including Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, and Mikaela Hoover, will reprise their roles, with production for the season having wrapped in February.
Further expanding the “One Piece” experience, Netflix is launching a two-part animated Lego special on September 27. This unique special, a partnership between LEGO Group, Shueisha, and Atomic, will retell the events of the first two seasons through brick-building comedy and action, offering a fresh perspective for veterans and a welcoming entry point for newcomers. A sneak peek highlights characters like Usopp and Chopper in their new brick-shaped forms. Additionally, new physical collectible LEGO sets based on Season 2 are expected to be released soon.
Netflix is also reimagining the series’ origins with a new anime adaptation titled “The One Piece,” from WIT Studio. First announced in 2023, this series aims to modernize the East Blue saga, which was originally adapted 27 years ago, using cutting-edge visual technology. The goal is to elevate it to contemporary anime standards and serve as another bridge for new viewers into the expansive “One Piece” narrative. A new image teases a fresh, watercolor-like art style featuring Luffy, Nami, Zoro, and Usopp gazing out over the ocean, though a release date for this anime has not yet been announced.
To create an all-encompassing universe for fans, Netflix has significantly expanded its “One Piece” offerings beyond screen content. Fans can visit new “One Piece” hubs on Tudum and Netflix for updates, listen to an official companion podcast for behind-the-scenes insights, and acquire official merchandise from brands such as NERF, Hot Topic, Penguin Random House, Moose Toys, and Funko. The Netflix House in Philadelphia also provides an immersive escape room experience called "Quest for the Devil Fruit," complete with photo opportunities and exclusive merchandise. Marian Lee, Netflix's Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the company's commitment to bringing the Grand Line to life across every medium, ensuring every fan, new or lifelong, can find their place within the Straw Hat crew's adventures.
