Neil Young Unleashes Fury: Slams Apple, Verizon, T-Mobile Over Trump Regime Support!

Veteran Grammy-winning rocker Neil Young has publicly declared his opposition to the “fascist Trump regime” and the corporations he alleges are financially backing it. In a fervent essay posted on his Neil Young Archives website, dated Thursday, January 29, Young meticulously called out several companies for their financial support of President Trump and his administration, specifically naming Verizon, T-Mobile, and Apple.
Young initially expressed his frustration with Verizon, stating, “One idea I have to keep [my flip phone] is just to change services and drop Verizon service like a cold fish. It’s the money I give Verizon for my service that’s doing the damage! Not my old phone I bought years ago.” His investigation into alternative services led him to T-Mobile, but he quickly dismissed them after discovering their donations to Trump’s ballroom, which he noted had mysteriously increased from $200 million to $400 million without clear accounting. Consequently, Young concluded, “So T-Mobile is apparently out.”
Beyond corporate donations, Young's activism has been profoundly influenced by recent events, particularly the unrest in Minnesota. A long-standing political activist, Young had previously voiced his distaste for ICE and Trump and pulled his music from Amazon in October, citing Jeff Bezos’s alleged ties to Trump. However, the fatal shootings of two American citizens by ICE agents in Minneapolis – Renée Good on January 7 and Alex Pretti on January 24 – spurred him into even greater action. “One by one, I am cancelling all contact with each of them,” Young proclaimed, emphasizing his commitment to preventing money earned from his music from supporting a regime he believes is responsible for “illegal killings.”
The Billboard Hot 100-topping singer did not spare Apple, directing his criticism at CEO Tim Cook, whom he accused of “kissing ass” at a Melania premiere at the White House. Young even threatened legal action if his computer required a “costly upgrade” and declared his immediate intention to instruct his business manager to avoid any Apple upgrades, alleging, “Tim Cook, the Apple CEO, [is] falling over backwards to support the regime!” He urged consumers to consider the impact of their spending, questioning, “How many of these big companies that we all need are contributing to the regime one way or another? Think of the money you spend and where it goes.”
As he continues to “re-assess everything [he is] doing,” Young also indicated he would be evaluating his relationship with Warner, his record company. He promised to keep his followers updated on his decisions. At the time of the article’s publication, representatives for T-Mobile, Apple, Verizon, and Warner Music Group had not responded to Billboard’s requests for comment.
