NCAA TOURNAMENT PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Travels to #14 Randolph-Macon - D3hoops

 - Piedmont women's basketball is set to compete in NCAA Tournament play for the first time since 2019, taking part in the Randolph-Macon Regional and taking on the host Yellow Jackets in first round action.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m in game two of Friday night first round action, following the conclusion of No. 20 Elizabethtown vs. SUNY Brockport.

Piedmont women's basketball clinched its first ever Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament Title, rolling over Belhaven in the second half with a 64-51 win on Saturday afternoon inside Cave Arena.

Nae-Nae Eades was the catalyst for the Lions on offense, scoring a career-high 20 points on 18-of-22 from the free throw line while dishing out four assists. After the game, she was named CCS Tournament MVP.

PIEDMONT NOTES:
-- Piedmont rolled through the season undefeated inside Cave Arena, winning all 11 games in front of the home fans.
-- The Lions clinched a share of the CCS Regular Season Title, going 14-2 in league play and then taking the tiebreaker over Asbury due to NPI and earning the No. 1 seed and the right to host the semifinals and final.
-- Andelin Hill was named CCS Player of the Year last week. She was joined by Ashley Scott and Alexandria Willis on the all-conference listing.
-- Piedmont then dispatched LaGrange (72-54) and Belhaven (64-51) by double digits in the CCS Tournament last weekend, using lockdown defense to claim its first conference tournament title since 2019.
-- Piedmont last made the NCAA Tournament in 2019 as well, falling at No. 20 Transylvania 77-67.

RANDOLPH-MACON NOTES:
-- The Yellow Jackets enter Friday night's contest with a nearly unblemished 27-1 overall record and ranked No. 14 in the D3hoops.com National Poll and No. 20 in the WBCA Coaches Poll.
-- RMC's only loss of the season was a 79-47 defeat at No. 12 Gettysburg at the Jean Beamer Tipoff Classic in the team's second game of the season.
-- The Yellow Jackets enter the NCAA Tournament on a 26-game winning streak with 16 of those wins by double digits.
-- RMC presents a tough challenge with a stifling defense that has not allowed an opponent to reach 60 points since February 5.
-- Randolph-Macon is led by three-time All-ODAC First Team selection Catherine Kagey.
