Narayana Murthy's 17-month-old grandson to earn Rs 3.3 crore from Infosys dividend? | Zee Business
Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the 17-month-old grandson of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, is set to receive a dividend of Rs 3.3 crore from Infosys for the financial year ending March 2025.
Ekagrah, the son of Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, holds 15 lakh shares in the IT major—accounting for a 0.04% stake in the company. These shares were gifted to him by his grandfather in March 2024, when he was just four months old. At that time, the shareholding was valued at over Rs 240 crore.
On Thursday, Infosys declared a final dividend of Rs 22 per share. With 15 lakh shares under his name, Ekagrah stands to earn Rs 3.3 crore from the payout. Adding this to the Rs 7.35 crore received from interim dividends earlier this year, the toddler’s total dividend income for the financial year has reached a staggering Rs 10.65 crore.
Born in November 2023 in Bengaluru, Ekagrah is the third grandchild of Narayana and Sudha Murty, joining cousins Krishna and Anoushka, the daughters of Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. At just one year and five months old, Ekagrah is among the youngest known millionaires in India.
The Murty family’s collective wealth from Infosys continues to grow. Akshata Murty, who holds 3.89 crore shares in the company, will earn around Rs 85.71 crore from the final dividend. Narayana Murthy himself will receive Rs 33.3 crore, while his wife, Sudha Murty, stands to earn Rs 76 crore.
The record date for the dividend has been fixed as May 30, and the amount will be credited on June 30.
Founded in 1981 with an initial capital of Rs 10,000, Infosys has grown into one of India’s most prominent tech giants. Sudha Murty, apart from being a bestselling author and noted philanthropist, played a crucial role in the company’s early development. She also led the Infosys Foundation for over two decades, retiring from her position in December 2021. She recently entered public service as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha.
