Second Man Charged in Chris Brown Assault Case

Published 4 hours ago1 minute read

Chris Brown, the Grammy-winning R&B singer, has been remanded in custody until June 13 by a court in Manchester, UK. This follows an assault charge related to an incident on February 19, 2023, at a venue in Hanover Square, London. The 36-year-old, known for hits like “Kiss, Kiss” and his past relationship with Rihanna, also has a history of legal issues, including a felony conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009.

In connection with the same 2023 incident, UK police have also charged Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old US national, with causing grievous bodily harm. Akinlolu is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

Brown's detention and the rejection of his bail request have cast uncertainty over the start of his upcoming tour, with sold-out shows in the Netherlands on June 8 and Germany on June 11 now in jeopardy.

Reports indicate that Brown was detained after arriving at Manchester airport via private jet on Wednesday afternoon. Police apprehended him at a five-star hotel in the city.
