Dead Body Found Hanging in Anambra Bush

The Anambra Police Command is investigating the discovery of a deceased individual found hanging from a mango tree in a bush in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area. The discovery was made on May 16, and reported to the police by an unidentified person who used the deceased's phone to make the call. Police Spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident and stated that the body has been identified and moved to a morgue, and that efforts are underway to contact the deceased's family for necessary action.

Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has directed officers and men of the Command to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering across the state to prevent crime and criminality, and specifically to uncover the circumstances surrounding the disturbing incident in Amichi. The police command has assured that they are taking proactive measures to unravel the details of the unfortunate event and to bring the perpetrators to justice. The incident comes barely two weeks after a similar discovery of a pregnant woman’s body in a forest in Ideani, Idemili South Local Government Area.

In a related matter, the police are also investigating the shooting deaths of a lawyer, Rolex Iloakasia, and his client, who were gunned down while returning from a court hearing in Egbebelu village, Nanka, in the Orumba north LGA of the state. This incident occurred at approximately 11:30 am.
