The body was discovered on May 16.

According to Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra police command, the discovery was reported to the police by an unidentified person who used the deceased’s phone to make the call.

Ikenga said the body has since been identified and moved to a morgue, adding that efforts are under way to contact the deceased’s family.

The spokesperson said Ikioye Orutugu, commissioner of police, has directed operatives to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering across the state.

He said the directive is aimed at preventing crime and criminality, and to specifically uncover the circumstances surrounding the Amichi incident.
