Catherine Wanjiru, who was also known as Sharon Kate by her close friends and family, was killed by a man alleged to be her lover, who remains on the run after allegedly committing the cold-blooded murder.
It now emerges that the slain woman's young son was the one who found her remains after the man was spotted leaving the house while covered in a Maasai Shuka.
The woman's sister said that when the gateman saw the man leaving the house suspiciously while his face was obscured with a Maasai Shuka.
"Catherine's son saw the man leaving the house with his face covered. The security guard tried to call the suspect, but he ran off, and the guard knew instantly that something was amiss. The security man asked my sister's son to check if she was okay. That's when the young boy went and found an ugly scene," Catherine's sister said.
She said the young boy found his mum's body sprawled on the floor, in a pool of blood, with severe stab injuries.
The family now seeks justice, calling for the expedited arrest of the suspect who is at large.
Catherine's sister said she had not noted any alarming signs that the man would turn against her sister, saying he appeared to be affectionate towards her.
"I have seen him before. Looking at him, I didn't know he was capable of such an act. I thought he loved my sister," she added.
Another family member cried for justice, saying their efforts to follow up with the police about the matter have not been fruitful.
"I am heartbroken because last year, Sharon sent me a message on my birthday and told me to live long. I wanted her to live long too. However did this to our sister, our God can see you," another sister said.
As earlier reported, Catherine's sister narrated receiving a call in the late hours of Saturday, and was informed that her sister had been killed.
She narrated that her sister was in good health up until her death, and had spent Thursday before her death with her.
"My sister was my best friend, she was my partner in crime. Rest well Kate and may you get the justice that you deserved," she tearfully said.
