who were immediately booked into the Kilimani Police Station after recording statements at the EACC's headquarters.

"On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the commission mounted an operation at the roundabout and arrested three police officers from the Central Police Station who had collected bribes amounting to KSh 48,250 in two hours from 6:30am," the EACC said in a statement.

The suspects, who have been identified as Corporal Oscar Serem Biwott, Constable Simon Kiplagat Nyunyutik and Constable Edwin Benedict Mubweka, are attached to the Central Police Station.

In light of the events, the EACC revealed partnering with the National Police Service (NPS) to audit police operations and seal such loopholes of corruption malpractices.

"As part of the strategic initiatives to address traffic corruption, the Commission has partnered with the National Police Service (NPS) to undertake a comprehensive audit of the systems and practices of work of the National Police Service (NPS) to identify and seal weaknesses conducive to corruption in Kenya's police operations," the EACC said.

The EACC is known to always have a field day with state law enforcers who camp on roads to extort monies from helpless motorists.

The arrests are ever dramatic with the cornered officers taking to their heels to escape the dragnet catching up with them.

In January this year, the agency's officers arrested nine traffic cops found on a bribe-collection spree in Nakuru, Kajiado and Kisii counties.

The anti-corruption officials further extended their dragnet to the Makutano-Embu Highway where they found officers from Waguru Police Station collecting monies from motorists on the road.

The suspects were arrested and processed for arraignment to face charges.

Similarly, the EACC officials pounced on their target on Kericho-Nakuru Road near Kaisugu Tea Factory a few months back.

The traffic officers caught amassing bribes were booked into the EACC South Rift Regional Offices in Nakuru for processing ahead of arraignment.
