Mysterious Death: Unanswered Questions Plague Jirongo's Requiem Mass Amidst Public Outcry

A requiem mass for former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo was held at Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM), Valley Road, Nairobi. The solemn service brought together family members, friends, political leaders, and mourners from across the country to celebrate the life and legacy of the flamboyant politician and businessman. Jirongo, who died earlier this month, was remembered as a bold mobiliser, a shrewd political operator, and a key figure in Kenya’s multiparty politics.
The mass, which took place on December 27, 2025, also served as a platform for various political leaders to voice strong calls for thorough investigations into Jirongo’s mysterious death. Despite initial reports of a road accident, credible issues and claims of assassination have been raised, with leaders suggesting that Jirongo’s journey to Naivasha appeared suspicious and that there was a high likelihood he did not drive himself there willingly. The government's silence on these questions has been noted.
During the mass, the widows of the late Cyrus Jirongo, Anne Kanini, Christine Nyokabi, and Anne Lanoi, delivered heartfelt tributes. Following the requiem mass, pallbearers carried Jirongo's coffin to the hearse. He is scheduled to be laid to rest on December 30, 2025, at Lumakanda in Kakamega County.
